Manitowoc Lincoln Junior guard Mason Dopirak received Honorable Mention recognition on this year’s AP All-State Boys Basketball Team.
The sharpshooting guard led the Ships in multiple offensive categories including averaging better than 24-points per-game as they won 14 games this past season-the most since the 2011-12 campaign. Dopirak was also named Player of the Year in the FRCC after leading the conference in scoring.
Other area players receiving Honorable Mention honors include senior Logan Geissler of Bayport, senior Ryan Claflin of Southern Door, Sam Haese, a junior from Wrightstown, and sophomore Casey Verhagen of Sheboygan Lutheran. His much-heralded teammate-senior Jacob Ognacevic was named to the 1st team unit while Plymouth senior Cole Booth was a fourth team selection.
Statewide six-five senior forward Johnny Davis of La Crosse Central is the AP Player of the Year while long time Cuba City bench boss Jerry Petitgoue was- chosen coach-of-the-year.
