If Wood County and the City of Marshfield agree to kick in about $7,000, installation of 32 state-of-the-art security cameras will happen this summer on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point campus in Marshfield.
An incident last December which turned out to be a false alarm showed campus leaders the need for more surveillance, when a visitor was mistakenly identified as a man with a gun.
U-W-Stevens Point is making a $43,000 investment on the project. Currently, the campus only has 10 cameras using older technology.
