The Sheboygan Police were led on a high-speed chase Sunday evening by a man who was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident began on Erie Avenue when officers saw the 56-year-old man driving west at around 9:30 PM.
The man reportedly struck a traffic light and kept driving. The lights reportedly toppled over and landed on the vehicle, but that didn’t slow him down.
After a short chase, officers were able to bring him to a stop near the intersection of Kohler Memorial Drive and 25th Street.
A breathalyzer test indicated that the man had a blood alcohol content of nearly twice the legal limit.
He was arrested on charges of OWI (his first offense), Hit and Run, and Unsafe Lane Deviation.
