In his fifth year leading the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team, Greg Gard has been named Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year.
Riding a seven-game winning streak the Badgers are seeded number-one in this week’s conference tournament. Wisconsin finished the season 21-and-10, including 14-and-6 in conference play.
Gard took over the program when Bo Ryan abruptly retired and has led the team to three N-C-A-A tournaments and two Sweet 16s.
The Badgers have succeeded despite dealing with tragedy and adversity – which started with the May car crash which injured assistant Howard Moore and killed Moore’s wife and daughter.
