A Manitowoc woman was taken into police custody over the weekend after she threatened her husband with a kitchen knife.
Police were called to the couple’s home in the 500 block of South 26th Street just after 12:30 PM on Saturday on a report of a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with the victim, who explained that the couple was in the process of getting a divorce.
The duo had planned to have a conversation about the logistics of the divorce, and to “protect himself against any false allegations”, the victim brought two friends with him to observe.
According to the police report, near the end of the hour-long talk, the suspect allegedly went upstairs, saying “the only thing he needed to worry about was her funeral arrangements.” The victim followed her to make sure she didn’t try to hurt herself.
The two entered the kitchen, and the woman reportedly grabbed a knife and approached the victim, saying that she was going to put it in his back.
The two witnesses corroborated the victim’s story, and the woman was arrested on a charge of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
