Day one of the WIAA State Wrestling Tournament is in the books.
Jordan Craft from Manitowoc Lincoln is in the Division 1 Consolation Wrestleback, while Grant Geiger of Brillion, and Kiel’s Andrew Schnad are preparing for their Quarterfinal matchups in Division 2 and 3 respectively. Schnad will take on the defending state champion, Blaine Brenner from Stanley/Boyd/Owen/Withee.
Kewaunee’s Jack Severin is also in the Quarterfinals, along with Josh Lund of Kiel, who will take on Two Rivers’ Bailey Thelen. Two-time state champion Matty Bianchi of Two Rivers has also advanced, as did Mishicot’s Kolton Tesarik.
Other Quarterfinal qualifiers include Garnett Stebane and Sam Galoff of Brillion, Ethan Schwartz Reese Piontek and Dave Wertel all from Denmark and Mishicot’s Frank Koeppel.
