The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports the number of abortions performed in the state is higher for the second straight year.
The increases come after eight straight years of declines.
The report released Thursday says abortions in 2018 were up by seven percent over 2017, totaling 6,042. The increase is nearly twice as big as the one between 2016 and 2017.
State health officials didn’t try to explain the increase at a time when there have been no state laws loosened on abortions.
