A lawsuit has been filed against the Madison Metropolitan School District over a transgender student policy. The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty filed the lawsuit Tuesday on behalf of 14 parents with students in the Madison district. WILL claims a policy that allows children of any age to change their gender identity without parental notice is unconstitutional. WILL President Rick Esenberg said in a statement, “a public school district should not, and cannot, make decisions reserved for parents.” WILL says it issued a demand letter in December urging the district to update and amend the policy, but Madison schools said in late January there would be no update.
