A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly strangled his girlfriend over the weekend.
Police were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of North 5th Street at around 9:30 PM on Saturday after a woman told the dispatcher that her daughter had informed her that her 37-year-old boyfriend had choked her.
The victim told officers that the duo had gotten into an argument, and he refused to let her leave and locked her in her bedroom.
As she was attempting to leave, the man reportedly put his hand around her throat and strangled her.
The suspect admitted to officers that the pair had gotten into an argument, but claimed that the woman attacked him.
The man was taken into police custody on charges of False Imprisonment, Disorderly Conduct, and Strangulation or Suffocation, with the latter two having Domestic Violence Orders attached.
