The U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) yesterday.
Randy Romanski, Interim Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) said in a statement that he was very happy to see the agreement pass.
“Wisconsin farmers have endured more than their fair share of challenges in the past several years,” he stated. “Trade uncertainty has had a significant impact on farmers’ bottom line as well. I’m optimistic that the approval of USMCA by the Senate next year will provide some of the certainty and stability our agricultural businesses need and deserve.”
He also informed farmers that the DATCP will continue to work with local, state, and federal partners to open markets for Wisconsin’s outstanding products and commodities.
