Manitowoc Lincoln rallied from 17 points down midway through the second half to tie the game in regulation, before edging host Sheboygan South 76-74 in overtime last night.
The Ships trailed the previously unbeaten Redwings 52-35 before closing the 2nd half on a 29-12 run, to send the FRCC contest into a 4-minute extra session.
The game went back and forth in overtime before senior Justin Steinbecker converted a 3-point play on a baseline drive to wipe out a 1-point lead for South, and set up a frenzied finish.
After Steinbecker’s game-changing play, the Redwings put the ball in the hands of their best player, point guard Josh Govek, who got off a desperation shot that was short and a follow up 3 by a team mate that rimmed out and time expired, giving the Ships a much-needed victory.
Mason Dopirek paced Lincoln, now 1-1 in conference, 2-2 overall, with 24 points.
Steinbecker chipped-in 17-in a reserve role and Sam Jacobson came-off-the-bench to add 10.
Govek topped South, coached by Lincoln alum Jesse Shaw, with 23, Kollin Fischer nailed 7 three’s and finished with 21-points.
The Ships also won the Jayvee game 50-to-35.
