A Chicago-based national civil rights law firm is representing a Racine family which is suing over the shooting death of 18-year-old Tyrese West.
A lawyer for the West family says the actions of Racine Police Sergeant Eric Giese were unreasonable and unconstitutional.
Giese is accused of using excessive force and violating the teenager’s Fourth and 14th Amendment rights.
The wrongful death lawsuit was filed Tuesday.
Giese says he feared for his life but admitted West didn’t point a gun at him or fire shots.
