Marcos Alfaro is stepping down as the Head Coach of the Manitowoc County Mariners football team.
Alfaro has been the coach of the Lakeshore’s semi-pro football team since its inception in 2009, and leaves behind a record of 65-34.
He will be succeeded by Defensive Coordinator TJ Schouten, who has also been with the Mariner since 2009. Schouten started off playing for the team before transitioning into a coaching role. He brings with him a 53-12 record leading the defense.
Schouten is currently compiling his coaching staff for the 2020 season.
Last month, Alfaro announced that he would be running for State Assembly in 2020.
