The Wisconsin Election Commission is asking for guidance from state lawmakers on when to remove a name from the voter rolls. There’s currently a pending court fight over what to do about people who have moved – or, haven’t voted in years. State law gives local clerks 30 days to remove the name of a person who has departed an address, but some activists say that’s too quick and it will hurt too many voters. The commission wants the Wisconsin Legislature to decide whether it’s proper to purge voter rolls.
