The Prentice Ambulance Service hopes offering free training will help it deal with a shortage of E-M-Ts. People needing emergency services in Wisconsin’s Northwoods can wait 30 minutes or more for an ambulance to arrive. The Prentice-based crews serve an area covering 525 square miles. The fire department is going to cover the cost of the training and it is hoped the recruits will stay local and serve as much-needed volunteers.
