A decade-old Brown County rape case finally has a conclusion.
The incident occurred on October 24th, 2009. A Green Bay woman was kidnapped and raped by her ex-boyfriend. Tyrone Bester was wearing a mask during the assault, so the victim could not identify him.
During the course of the investigation, a rape kit was collected, which preserved the DNA left by the attacker. That kit was finally tested seven years after the fact, which led police to the now 51-year-old Bester.
Police didn’t have to do any searching for Bester, as he was already in the Brown County Jail, serving time for Attempted Homicide.
As for why the kit took so long to be tested, Detective Dave Graf of the Green Bay Police Department said “These things fall through the cracks sometimes.”
