A 38-year-old man who abducted his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint in Green Bay early this morning was shot and killed by law enforcement in Kewaunee County. Sheriff Matt Joski says the man has been identified as Luis Cardona. Authorities say that Cardona pulled 40-year-old Barbette Caraballo into his vehicle as she was arriving for work at Hansen’s Frozen Foods in Green Bay just before 5 a.m. Joski says Cardona’s vehicle was located several hours later by law enforcement on the private property of a residence adjacent to an ATV Park.
When law enforcement moved in, Cardona shot Caraballo leading a Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Deputy to fire his weapon at the suspect killing him at the scene. Caraballo was rushed to a Green Bay Hospital with what were termed as “life-threatening” injuries and her condition is unknown.
The State Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation
