You may have noticed that Lake Michigan has been abnormally high lately. Well a new forecast by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says that isn’t about to change.
According to Hydrologist Keith Kompoltowicz, the wet October we experienced has interrupted the normal drop off of water levels normally experienced in the fall. All five Great Lakes are expected to start to recede, but they will still be will above normal levels, and will be higher in January than they were at the beginning of this record setting year.
Lake Michigan will likely set monthly records as well. The only way to reverse the trend, according to Kompoltowicz, is with a lengthy dry spell.
