The first impression of Milwaukee for tens of thousands of visitors attending the Democratic National Convention next summer will be Mitchell International Airport. Millions of dollars are being spent on renovations. Airport officials say they are adding 22 new stores and restaurants and all should be in place and operating about a month before 50-thousand people arrive for the convention. The work is being funding by passenger and airline fees, meaning no taxpayer money is being spent to put a new face on Mitchell International.
