Early Snow Brings Already-Late Harvest To A Stop

Wisconsin farmers say their harvest was already delayed this year due to the moisture in the ground.  An early snowfall just makes things worse.  The snow will have to melt away before they can resume – and the ground will be saturated, complicating the work.  Even if a combine can operate in the mushy ground, the snow can plug up the machinery.  Farmers say they hope to be back in the fields next week, but that isn’t a given during an unpredictable weather pattern.
