Brown County authorities are looking over a proposal to build a multi-million dollar crisis center. The goal of the center would be to bring multiple mental health services under one roof, in an attempt to make the process of getting help much quicker and easier.
As things work right now, someone seeking help may go to one location, just to be told that due to their needs, they have to go to another. This kind of treatment is very frustrating, and may actually turn people off to the idea of even getting help.
The $2.2 million center is written into the budget, and will see a slight rise in taxpayer cost, but in the long run County Executive Troy Streckenbach says it would save the public money.
The county expects the center to be in operation by the end of next year.
