Justices on the Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the suit challenging the lame-duck laws passed by the Legislature last December. A group of labor unions filed the suit eight months ago. They argue the laws violate the separation of powers between the legislative and executive branches of government. The effect of the laws pushed through by Republicans is to reduce the powers of Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul, both Democrats.
