A 60-year-old Pulaski man has died and two adults from the Forest Junction area were injured as the result of a multi-vehicle accident this morning in the Brown County Town of Holland.
Brown County Sheriff’s Lt. Christopher Knurr said that deputies responded at about 6:15 a.m. to a crash involving two semi-trucks and a car on State Highway 57 just north of Man-Cal Road. A preliminary investigation determined that a northbound semi driven by a 50-year-old Whitelaw man was stopped attempting to back into a water distribution station with a car stopped behind it. He stated to authorities that when he began to back-up he noticed the southbound semi driven by the 60-year-old Pulaski male was closer than he thought. When he pulled forward- he was struck from behind resulting in the driver’s side rear tires to land on the cab of the victim’s cab with the impact causing the passenger vehicle to be pushed into the ditch.
The Pulaski man was pronounced dead at the scene. The two adults from the car were treated and released from a local hospital while the 50-year-old Whitelaw man and a 1-year-old child in the car were not hurt. All involved were wearing seatbelts.
Authorities are advising motorists to avoid the area as the crash remains under investigation by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit.
