Ships’ Peterson Advances to State in Girls Tennis

Manitowoc Lincoln girls tennis player Kendra Peterson was the only one to advance yesterday in the sectionals at Kohler. Peterson, the Ships number one player, defeated Taylor Gillis of Green bay 6-1, 6-1 in a first round match. She then lost to Marisa Marohl of Ashwaubenon 6-4, 6-0 and was defeated in the third place match by Grace Welhouse of Appleton North 6-4, 6-1. Number two singles player Caroline Ramminger and number three singles player Delaney Brockman both lost their first round matches but went on to win third place matches. Peterson will move on to the state tournament starting next Thursday.
