October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give blood or platelets to provide hope and healing to patients fighting cancer. Breast cancer is the second-most common cancer in women, and more than 268,000 women are expected to be diagnosed with the illness this year. A reminder that there’s a blood donation opportunity today at the Manitowoc Senior Center, at 3330 Custer Street. The blood drive is being operated from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A blood donor card or driver’s license or, two other forms of identifications are required at check-in.
