Members of the Manitowoc Police Department and County Sheriff’s Department were at the Starbucks location in Manitowoc earlier this week to participate in a Coffee With a Cop event. SGT Andrew Trilling of the Manitowoc Police Department was one of the officers on hand, and he spoke with us about the event. He said the goal was for “ people to be able to connect with their local law enforcement” and ask them questions.
This is actually the second iteration of this community involved event. SGT Trilling explained that Starbucks Corporate office actually reached out to the MPD last year, and they were able to put together the first Coffee With a Cop around 6 months ago. When it came time to plan the second one, SGT Trilling said “What better time than during Crime Prevention Month.”
We asked SGT Trilling if there were any questions that really stood out to him, and he was a little surprised by how many people were concerned with the drug problem in Manitowoc. “Some people have a grasp on it, some people don’t have any idea,” he explained.
