The Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry, or TREP, has been helping low-income families since 1983 but is now in serious danger of closing its doors. Money is getting very tight for them, and their administrators say without serious help, they could be closed by Christmas.
Many area businesses and churches have made monetary and food donations in the past, but as the years have gone on, those donations became less frequent, or in fewer amounts.
Pantry Board President Jackie Ackerman has gone on record saying “The last few years we’ve been able to survive on reserves, but those are nearly gone now.”
Around 380 families rely on the pantry, with many clients supporting children, the elderly, and the disabled.
The Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry is located at 1902 22nd St. For information on donations or to volunteer, call the TREP at (920) 793-5364
There will be an opportunity to help raise funds for The Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry this Saturday, October 5th during a brat fry fundraiser at Fox’s Piggly Wiggly (2300 Forest Ave, Two Rivers) from 10 am to 2 pm.
