Sheriff Dan Hartwig is releasing the following information regarding a fatal crash that occurred in Manitowoc County over the weekend.
On Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 7:42 PM, deputies and EMS personnel responded to County Road JJ west of Lower Falls Road within the Town of Cato reference a single-vehicle rollover crash. The preliminary investigation indicates 26-year-old Brandon Lee Schroeder from Valders was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck westbound on County Road JJ. While negotiating a curve, Brandon lost control and entered the south ditch. The vehicle collided with a utility pole and overturned. Brandon was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Manitowoc County Coroner, Curtis Green states the cause of death is due to a traumatic head injury and other blunt force traumatic injuries. The decedent was not wearing a seatbelt. Preliminary testing indicates the decedent had alcohol in his system.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, and Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office.
Valders Fire Department, Valders Ambulance, St. Nazianz Fire Department, Manitowoc County Highway Department, Wisconsin Public Service and Hi-Way 42 assisted at the scene.
