
A huge honor for Two Rivers native and former Raiders athlete, Jordan Steckler. The senior offensive Tackle for Northern Illinois University in Dekalb..was recently named a semifinalist for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes the top football scholar-athlete in the nation and is selected from across every division of college football. 185 semifinalists were announced last Wednesday and, the 6-5, 305 pound Steckler was on the list.
Jordan, a three-time Academic All-MAC honoree, carries a 3.62 GPA while pursuing his degree in management with an emphasis on leadership. Steckler is on pace to earn his bachelor’s degree in December. One of 12 players chosen by teammates to the NIU Football leadership Council, Jordan has volunteered at many community service events in the Dekalb-Sycamore area, including an assist at numerous elementary school fun-fairs, a tornado cleanup In an adjacent town in 2015, helps people with disabilities during recreational programs and was one of the leaders for the NIU Football Women’s Clinic.
