The Boys and Girls Clubs of America Manitowoc County has hired William P. Bertsche to serve as the organizations Executive Director with a mission of bringing the community together to secure resources and develop successful programming for the students and families of Manitowoc County.
William Bertsche has long been an advocate for after-school programming for school-age students and programs that support students beyond the school day. Prior to assuming the role of Executive Director, he positively impacted the lives of many while serving as an elementary school administrator in the Manitowoc Public School District for 20 years, in addition to serving on the YMCA Board of Directors, the Healthiest Manitowoc County team, and youth sports coach. “This is something I feel that has been needed in the Manitowoc community for a long time,” remarked Bertshe. “It is about growing relationships and helping all students achieve success so they can become caring productive adults.”
William Bertsche is regarded as a role model who lives to serve and support others to be the best they can be. One of his colleagues, Joanne Metzen of MPSD Director of Pupil of Services commented, “He is one of the most excellent people I have ever had the good fortune to work with. He is always willing to think outside the box to make plans to set students up for success.”
“More than ever, Manitowoc needs a place for our youth to gain positive experiences with each other and by means of skilled staff guiding them in a promising direction,” commented Nick Reimer, Chief of Police, Manitowoc Police Department. “A Manitowoc Boys & Girls Club will provide this and help give our children the tools to make sound decisions and become future ambassadors for our community.”
“I’m excited about the opportunity to bring a Boys & Girls Club to the Manitowoc community,” commented Mark Holzman, Superintendent of Manitowoc Public School District. “Many of our students will benefit from the hope and opportunity that the Boys & Girls Club provides. In addition to a safe and structured learning environment, the Boys & Girls Club will provide life-enhancing character development for the future of Manitowoc.”
