A fractured knee cap has sidelined slugger Christian Yelich for the rest of the season, but he could still wind up winning the National League batting title. After leading the league in home runs for most of the season, that honor will go to someone else, but the knee injury ended the 2019 season for the left-handed batter with an average of .329. Arizona’s Ketel Marte is less than a point behind Yelich, but Marte is out for the rest of the season, too. Washington’s Anthony Rendon is at .322, but he’s buried in a slump. Players like Jeff McNiel of New York and Colorado’s Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon are very long shots to catch Yelich.
