A home in Fond du Lac caught fire late last week, killing three people. The fire reportedly flared up at around 6:00 AM last Thursday, and two people were able to escape, but the other three residents were not so lucky. Their bodies were found on the second floor of the residence. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’ Leary said that it appears that there wasn’t a real plan to escape in case of a fire, which may have been part of the reason they couldn’t get out. Firefighters are now taking this opportunity to inform the neighborhood of why it’s important to have an escape plan. O’Leary said “Unfortunately, today is a grim reminder to all of us the dangers that fires possess, and fires are very undiscriminatory; they can strike any one of us, any day.”
