Manitowoc’s District Ten has new representation. Courtney Pelot, United Way Manitowoc County’s Marketing and Brand Strategy Manager was appointed Monday night to succeed Bruce Jacobs who resigned this summer.
Pelot told SeehaferNews.com that she has been wanting to be a part of the local government for some time. “During my year as Miss Wisconsin, I really became passionate about this community, more so than I already was,” She explained. “I knew that once my year was over, I wanted to continue giving back in some capacity to my hometown.”
The former Miss Wisconsin and 2012 Lincoln High graduate says she embraces the role of being a young female voice on the City Council. She said she is passionate about getting young professionals to both come here and stay in the community to help build it up.
Mayor Justin Nickels said of Pelot’s appointment “Any of the four candidates who ran would have been more than qualified to represent District Ten but having a young female voice serve on the Council is, in my opinion, a step in the right direction.”
Pelot will serve thru April 2020 when an election will be held to serve out the remainder of Jacob’s term which is until April 2021.
