The Kohler Company has announced that they have laid off 84 workers in order to better position themselves for long-term success. The company says that this move was not related to the announcement from earlier this year that they are moving their small engines division from Wisconsin to Hattiesburg, Mississippi. A majority of the laid-off workers were Sheboygan County residents, and all were non-union employees. None of the affected employees were in the manufacturing division, and some were even granted early retirement. Kohler boasts a workforce of around 7,500 statewide, with 5,000 of them in Sheboygan County, making them the largest employer in the county.
