Ascend Services, Inc. (formerly Holiday House of Manitowoc County, Inc.) will be holding their third annual 5K Run, Walk & Roll on September 28, 2019 at Lincoln Park Cabin 1 in Manitowoc.
This year, besides the new location, Ascend has expanded the event to include Family Fun and Fitness to the lineup. This is the nonprofit organization’s major fundraiser for the year and every dollar raised goes back into Ascend.
Registration is open through the day of the event. Events that require registration are the 5K Timed Run, 5K Walk, 0.0 “Run” Event and the Kids ¼ Mile Run/Walk. Not familiar with the 0.0 “Run”? It is one of the shortest running courses in the history of running. Participants “run” a total of 0.0 miles! Everyone lines up at the start line, and with the official start of the race you simply step over the line. If you cannot be there the day of the event you may sign up and participate virtually wherever you are. It is that easy!
The day also includes many family friendly FREE events. There will be two sessions of Family Yoga with Theresa Falvey, owner of State of Grace. Bring your yoga mat and learn how to downward dog with your family. Venture over to the Lincoln Park Zoo for the Fitness Scavenger Hunt. Locate the animals on your Scavenger Hunt card and complete the fitness challenge. Warning: some challenges may be completely silly, but fun.
There will be donated gift baskets to bid on, a 50/50 raffle, face painting, music by AEDJ Services and more! To register visit ascendservicesinc.org or stop in and pick up a form.
