A Wisconsin spokeswoman for the American Red Cross said Hurricane Dorian has impacted the blood supply. Laura McGuire, External Communications Director for the Bio-med division, tells SeehaferNews.com, they have an urgent need for all blood types, especially O and B. “What we have seen is Hurricane Dorian canceled 100 blood drives on the east coast, and that results in 2,3000 uncollected donations in the past week. The Red Cross collects 13,000 every single day.”
McGuire says on this anniversary of 911 and Patriot Day, she can’t think of a better day to make a blood donation, calling it a “fitting opportunity” to host the Oshkosh Fire & Police Battle of the Badges blood drive today. To donate or to find listings of local blood drives coming up go to the website RedCrossBlood.org.
