Mother Sentenced To 4 Years For Hiding Her Son’s Death

A 23-year-old Shawano woman has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison for hiding her infant son’s death.  Police responding to a tip found the two-month-old boy’s body in a bassinet at the home.  Catherine Barker told police he died of accidental suffocation.  At least two people told investigators Barker had messaged them about her son’s death, saying she planned to bury his body in the country.  She had active warrants at the time and was afraid she would be arrested.
