Disasters happen, which is why it’s important for everyone in Wisconsin to learn how they can protect themselves, their family, and their community. To help encourage everyone to be ready, Gov. Tony Evers has declared September Preparedness Month in Wisconsin. ReadyWisconsin asks everyone to review four key areas to get ready in case of a disaster. First, make sure you are financially stable in case of an emergency, including having copies of your important financial documents. Create or update your disaster plans, and make sure your entire family is aware of the plan. Teach children about preparedness, and the importance of being ready for anything. Finally, Prepare your community for a disaster by identifying the types of disasters that are most likely to affect your community and the resources that would be available to respond to them.
