Two Manitowoc residents are facing drug charges following a traffic stop early Tuesday morning. A pair of officers were out on a routine patrol at around 3:00 AM, when they saw a car with a heavy tint in the rear window. The officers pulled up next to the vehicle and saw through an open window, that one of the passengers was not wearing their seatbelt, so they initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Marshall and 22nd Streets. When the officers ran the plates of the vehicle, it was discovered it was registered to a man who had died three months prior. A passenger claimed the vehicle belonged to her, but was unable to produce documentation, and due to the driver having previous drug history, K9 Neko was called to search the vehicle. Neko produced a “hard hit” on the vehicle, and the subsequent search uncovered a baggie containing what was later determined to be Methamphetamine. The 28-year-old male driver of the vehicle and a 37-year-old female passenger were both arrested for Possession of Meth, and Second or Subsequent Offence, while the female was also hit with a Keeper of a Drug House or Car charge.
