After four months on the Manitowoc City Council, 10th district alderman Bruce Jacobs has resigned from his position. Jacobs announced his decision in a letter late last week to Council President Eric Sitkiewitz and stated he will be moving to a new residence outside the city after August 31st. The retired Manitowoc Police Department Crime Prevention Sergeant said, “I appreciate the support of the residents of District-10 in voting for me, and I thank them for the opportunity to briefly serve on the Common Council.”
Bruce Jacobs was elected in April when he defeated Rhienna Gabriel. A process will now be put in place to select someone to serve out the rest of his term.
UPDATE: 8/20/19 9:40 am. On the 1240 AM Be My Guest morning show, Mayor Justin Nickels said that resumes and cover letters for the position are now being taken. Candidates from the 10th District can visit City Hall and talk with the City Clerks Office for more information. On September 16th the council will meet with all candidates and appoint a new 10th District Alderman.
