SeehaferNews.com and the Better Business Bureau have been focusing on keeping you up to date on the latest scams sweeping the state, and have made reference to the BBB Scam Tracker. We spoke with BBB’s Director of Investigations and Media Relations, Lisa Schiller about what exactly the Scam Tracker is. She explains, “It is an interactive tool for consumers throughout the US and Canada to report scams and fraud, and for the Better Business Bureau to use that information…in a meaningful way.”
Schiller said they use the information to help law enforcement, and open investigations based on the information. Also, every year “We release a report, so we can tell the consumers what the most reported scams were for the year.”
The Scam Tracker also has a really cool feature, where you can take a look at what people near you are reporting. Schiller explained that they publish the report exactly as it is written, but the name, address, and other identifying information is not available to the public.
