UPDATE: Construction equipment made contact with a high voltage line in the 1800 block of South Rapids Road affecting businesses and residences from the Calumet Avenue South Frontage Road area-north to Custer Street and east of Rapids Road. All customers were back on-line by 1 p.m. No one was hurt.
Some customers are back on-line following a power outage late this morning on Rapids Road. MPU Customer Services Manager Dan Salm says that a power line went down about 11:15 this morning near the Meijer Store Construction site resulting in approximately 1400 customers to lose power. Customers north of Expo Drive are back up however many customers East of Rapids Road towards the Holiday Inn and South of Expo Drive are still without power. Salm adds this outage is affecting many Commercial and industrial customers including those in the Clipper City Industrial Park. More details will be made available later today.
