In local baseball, the Manitowoc Bandits have advanced to the Shoreland League championship series. After spotting the Green Bay Storm a 1-nothing lead in the semifinal playoff series, the Bandits came back to win the next two games by lopsided scores of 17-3 Saturday night and then 12-2 last evening. In last night’s victory at Municipal Field, Mike Ruzek pitched a complete game 5 hitter and added a solo homerun. AJ Dollinger slammed a 3 run homer in Manitowoc’s big 3rd inning assault on the storm.
The Bandits open a best of 3 championship series at Algoma with game 1 versus the Guins’ Wednesday night. The series shifts to Municipal Field for Game 2 on Friday night at 7:30, and Saturday if needed.
