A man serving a life sentence at Dodge Correctional Institute is appealing his 2018 murder conviction. Forty-one-year-old George Burch was found guilty of killing Nicole Vanderheyden in a trial last year. Prosecutors said he raped, beat and strangled the victim when she rejected his advances. Burch’s lawyers haven’t said what the grounds for the appeal will be. They beat a deadline to file by just three days last week.
