A 56-year-old Manitowoc man was taken into police custody over the weekend after he attacked his wife. Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of South 21st Street just before 4:00 a.m. on Saturday after a 911 hang up. It was noted to the responding officers that the residence had previous domestic violence issues. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with a woman, who claimed her husband had attacked her. She told officers that she had gotten home from a night out when her husband accused her of being at a bar with another man. She claimed that was not the case, but the man did not believe her and began striking and choking her alternately. She also stated that she feared for her life, and hung up when calling for help because her husband took her phone. The man refused to speak with officers and was arrested on Battery, and Disorderly Conduct, both with Domestic Violence Orders, as well as Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and Impeding Breathing by Pressure on the Throat or Neck.
