A bullet-proof vest protected a La Crosse police officer Saturday when he was hit while exchanging gunfire with a 34-year-old domestic violence suspect. Officers were called to the location at about 3:00 P-m, where they were met by Allen Kruk, who had an active felony warrant in his name. Kruk reportedly pulled a handgun and started shooting. The officer was treated and released at a local hospital, but Kruk was hit multiple times and had to be admitted. His medical condition hasn’t been released.
