A southern Wisconsin man says he regrets forgiving the drunk driver who killed his wife. 15 years ago Nathan Leopold was sentenced to 7 years in prison for a hit and run that resulted in the death of Aimee Kubler who was out for a jog. Aimee’s husband, Toby Kubler met Nathan while he was in prison where he promised to never drink again and always remember Aimee. Leopold was released early from his extended supervision probation time of almost five years with Toby Kubler’s blessing.
Leopold was scheduled for sentencing today in Green County for causing a wreck that left 70-year-old David Leck dead and his grandaughter injured. He plead no contest to homicide by vehicle while using a controlled substance and causing injury while operating under a controlled substance. A charge of homicide by intoxicated driving was dropped.
Kubler has said that he feels partially responsible for Leck’s death. He sent a letter to the judge saying that he is afraid if Leopold does not get a tough enough sentence this time, he could kill again
