Republican leaders in the Wisconsin Legislature say Democrats are just trying to fire up their base for the 2020 elections. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says political opponents are “rumor-mongering” when they warn that Republicans are trying to circumvent Governor Tony Evers when they redraw political boundary lines in 2021. A published report Monday indicated Republicans were planning to use a joint resolution for redistricting, cutting the governor out of the process. Fitzgerald says something like that has never even been discussed.
