The newest additions to Manitowoc’s Red Arrow Park are seven banners representing the history of the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s Red Arrow Division.
The seven images include two separate images of the Red Arrow, the original one created during WWI when the 32nd breached every German line and the second Red Arrow modified during WWII when Red Arrow soldiers fought for 654 days of continuous combat in the South Pacific.
In addition, there are five soldier images including a Civil War soldier of the “Iron Brigade,” and soldiers of WWI, WWII, the Berlin Crisis and the Global War on Terror.
The banners depicting soldiers were designed and painted by local artist Jason Prigge. The banners were donated to the city by Friends of Red Arrow Park, Inc.
