The Manitowoc County Historical Society will be hosting an interactive Civil War homeschool program. Participants will be able to dress in a Civil War jacket and hat, taste hardtack (a simple type of biscuit or cracker), learn a drill that soldiers did using Civil War “dummy” guns, pitch a tent, and even pick up some Civil War slang. Civil War re-enactors will be on hand to take you marching, drilling, and following the path of the Flag of Company A.
This special tour experience is self-guided and will allow families to tour and take part in hands-on activities at their own pace. Lunch is not provided, but space will be available in the Town Hall should families wish to bring lunch.
Homeschool program admission is $6 for students age 4 to 17. Children under 4 are admitted free. One adult educator per family is admitted free. Additional adults may join in the program at a cost of $6 each. Complimentary passes and memberships are not valid for homeschool day programs. Please register online at https://www.manitowoccountyhistory.org/homeschool-program-registration or by calling (920) 684-4445 by Thursday, August 8.
